Welcome to the Grange school community website. We hope you find it informative and that it encourages you to want to find out more from us. We are a large primary school in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, occupying a wonderful building built in 1939, which started life as a secondary school. We have a very strong and supportive community that plays a very active role in supporting its children to reach their full potential.

We have a strong ethos based upon the motto - ‘Living, Learning and Laughing’ together, as well as a commitment to Innovation and Enterprise. We aim to provide your child with an education that is filled with opportunities and experiences that instill a lifelong love of learning.
We pride ourselves on the warm welcome all visitors receive.

We look forward to hearing from you.

M Hannon

Our School

Grange Primary School is a co-educational day school.

The well proportioned red brick building is surrounded by extensive hard play areas, lawns and fruit/vegetable growing areas. The school field school field is some distance away so we use it rarely. However, we do have access to the all weather pitches of Long Eaton United Football Club.

The well equipped Nursery accommodates 52 pre-school children (26 full time equivalent). A secure outdoor play area creates a fine facility for these, our youngest pupils.

The school is organized into three units; Lower School accommodates Nursery, Reception and Year 1. Middle School consists of Years 2 and 3 and Upper School houses Years 4 to 6.

The school has a large hall/dining area, a gymnasium with separate changing rooms, an ICT suite, a multimedia room, a music room, a cookery room, a nurture room and a library.

The area normally served by the school extends from the railway line which crosses Nottingham Road to the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border.

The total number of children on roll for the year beginning Sept 2009 is approximately 440.

Our Vision

LIVING.... Should be a life long journey of discovery, of new experiences and opportunities. Our lives should be lived in a secure and nurturing environment. We should feel valued and value others no matter what their background, appearance or disability. We should celebrate the past, live for the present and look forward to the future. At Grange we look to lead children along that journey, preparing them along the way for the next stage, the next challenge the next memory.

LEARNING.... Begins with the confidence that you can! It is our responsibility to ensure that every child at Grange believes they have the ability to learn and the self assurance to solve problems and overcome difficulties. We must inspire and enthrall, so that children develop a desire to learn that is borne out of the magic of discovery. Learning must be relevant so that children see a reason for new skills and knowledge and can celebrate the feeling of achievement gained from the new doors they can open and be proud of a job well done.

LAUGHING.... Our school days should be filled with joy, excitement and fun. We must ensure that we promote an environment of mutual respect and of humour. An environment that stimulates and excites, a school where we are confident to smile ahead of our challenges and positively address our mistakes, a school confident enough to laugh together, a school that our community is proud to call its own.
